Who Is Dad?

by Stonefire Darktalon Maelstrom
 Age Group: Adult

As a young boy, you always want to think of your father as your dad. And in that thought process, there is always the expectancy that that figure in your life is the person who will always be there for you, no matter what. The man who is considered your father, is supposed to provide you with unconditional love, without ever faltering. But, there are those few "father" figures which you believe will love you forever, but in all actuality, do not, and will not, love you. even though they should... they don't. The following words are to those of you who have gone through the event of the falling out between you and your father.
The Person Who Once Was "Dad" By: Jack Adams
There are people, in this world. Who are there, for your support.
To make your memories, to help you through life. To help you, make it.
You trust these people, people who are fallible. Fallible like all others, like all human beings.
He's there for you, for now at least. So it seems, that's how it is.
Dad's not always going to, be there forever... At least not now, not this time.
Even though, through thought. He might last, or at least the idea of him.
A person can die, but their memory won't. A person can mess up, but others won't forget.
In the mentality, of the way he's integrated. Integrated within your mind, he'll always be there with you.
He's there for you, for now at least. So it seems, that's how it is.
Dad's not always going to, be there forever... At least not now, not this time.
You want to believe, in these people. That these people, will always be there.
But belief isn't enough, not to make it alright. Believing helps the heart, but the truth heals.
Truth may not help, not at first anyways. But without truth, there's no trust.
He's there for you, for now at least. So it seems, that's how it is.
Dad's not always going to, be there forever... At least not now, not this time.
Trust is expected, between son and Father. Sadly though, it's not that simple.
Trust can be broken, trust can be regained. But sometimes, trust cannot be regained.
Bad things can happen, trust can be lost. Bad things do happen, trust might be regained.
He was there then, he's gone now. No more trust, ever again.
Dad's not worthy of trust, not ever again... In this life or, the next one.
Author's Notes: This poem originated from the "falling out" I had with my dad, a couple of weeks ago...
