The Darkened World

As I sat thinking beneath an old Elm, a mysterious force came upon me.
This force blasted through me on a gust of wind, sending spirals of light and color of undying beauty through my entire existence, accompanied by a wave of sound.
This wonderful experience seemed to last an eternity before it finally faded away.
The lights drained down into more recognizable shapes, losing all trace of color.
The wave of sounds faded into the faraway din of many factories, an ugly sound that almost hurt after the pure beauty I experienced before.
The scene I witnessed now was a small conference room, one in the midst of a darkened world.
Two men entered, wearing clothing that could only be described as Victorian, one with a monocle and other with a cane.
They sat at opposite ends of the small, mahogany table and discussed business, money and Polotics for many hours, or so it seemed, before finally leaving.
Once again, I was alone in a darkened world, the only sound the faraway din of factories.
Then, the dark scene faded away and was replaced by the beauty I had expierienced before, the spirals of color accompanied by the wave of sound.
I awoke with a start, suddenly aware I had fallen asleep.
I stood and turned to the old Elm tree and silently thanked it that we don't live in a darkened world.
