My Dream

Last night I dreamed I was in Asgard.
It was cold, and I was only wearing my pajamas.
It wasn't that fun.
I went to a man's fire to warm myself.
He asked me what I was seeking and I said
I didn't know, maybe just a fire.
He said to me "Isn't that short-sighted?"
I replied I didn't have time to think about the question
He said to me "you have eternity" then gave me a wink.
I thought about what he said for a long time
then I asked "Are you a god?"
In a manner of speaking, yes
He wasn't always
He brought himself there.
They didn't accept him, he said
Just like they won't accept you.
When I woke up, I thought about what Loki had told me
what the dream meant.
Then I realized
I didn't belong.
I had to earn my place in life
and they still wouldn't accept me.
Then I thought about Loki
how Odin had adopted him
how he could weasel out of anything
about his skill and knowledge.
Not a bad patron, I thought to myself as
I wriggled into my favorite khakis
and ate a pop tart
ready to create a little trouble...
