The Pagan's Realization.

Today I was speaking to a girl
who didn't know about us
who didn't know we were still around
I told her
and she recoiled
she couldn't comprehend that
we can be allowed
that they didn't wipe us all out.
As I held my best friend, I didn't do it for any reason
but the realization
that we're cut from the same cloth
him and I
we need each other in this world
with people who think
we should go back underground.
I need him.
Goddess, I need him.
I need him for more reasons than one
The world is too big
and we are too small.
I cling to the sword around my neck,
waiting for the chance to fight
I'm a fighter
But not to conquer
just to survive.
Why?
