The Unheard Voice

Standing in the forest alone
Arms out stretched, looking up at the sky
I close my eyes to listen.
There are no words, only a voice.
As I listen closely, I can hear it speaking to me.
A soul touching, soothing, peaceful voice.
As it speaks, I listen closer still
I can hear the voices of the trees, the leaves, the grass, and the stream nearby.
I can hear, in them, the voices and words of my ancestors...
the past chiefs, warriors, story tellers, and medicine men.
I listen not with my ears, but with my heart and with my soul.
I can hear the voice tell me things of the past, the present, and of things to yet to come.
They tell me of the stories, and the worries.
I open my eyes, and with a deep, refreshing breath...
The wind says its goodbyes, and with an embracing hug, it says.... 'Until next time, my sister.'
The next time you hear the wind blow...
listen a little closer,
with your heart and with your soul. Listen to what it's saying to you
For it's not only a sound, but... The Unheard Voice.
