Two Wizards

by child of apollo

Age Group: Adult

Two wizards stood on a road, side by side.
One was fair, the other weathered and wise.
One was of earth, the other of air.
Both shared the fire inside of them there.

Fluid in nature, both the sight to see,
What could, should or just might be.
Wondering of the other and each just a notion.
What lay so deep; in the depth of the ocean

Said the fair one of the other "Listen to me".
"You look near as a brother, could that possibly be?"
The weathered one looked him square in the face.
"Now that you mention it; there does seem a trace>"

"We're much alike, in the way we stand"
"In the way you speak, how your voice commands".
"In stature the same, except for my age".
"I wonder you're not me, of an earlier stage."

"Let us then discuss, of where we began".
"Of your time of a boy and now as a man".
So, the two of them shared; each awed by the other.
Their origin the same, they had to be brothers.

Yet, the weathered one felt; deep, deep down inside.
The other his shadow. Where he once did abide.
This path he had chosen, to walk in his life.
As a reminder of both, the good and the strife.

Was this then, a reflection? Of the boy he had been.
Of the trials, tribulations and the lessons of then?
The courage to go on, to struggle again and again.
To walk pround and erect in the world of man.

Two wizars stood on a road, side by side.
One was fair, the other weathered and wise.
Was it two men? Or, was it just one?
I leave it to you, as you stand facing the sun.

Gerald Young (fotheow)

Author's Notes: This poem was penned on March 29 of 2008.

How often do we reflect on our own past life. Where we started and where we are now. Male/Female, does it really make any difference? Where we should be and maybe where we are not. Lots of questions, only we can answer. Blessed be.
