I see the shadows staring back at me,
standing in my reflection,
memories caught,
suspended,
glinting in the falling light,
stretching across the etchings of my face,
and those shadows paint the lines,
the colors dripping from the wells behind my eyes,
The shades and hues dance in the light,
but linger in the shadows,
murky and clouded like an indiana sky,
I close my eyes,
searching for clarity,
all I have is blind perception,
colored in the dark of me,
their luster lost in the bright light,
only to be seen in their radiance,
lurking in the shade of my reflection,
drifting on lucid daydreams,
etched upon lines in my face
Author's Notes: All the time, we look into the mirror. Everyday, every night, it's part of the routine. But have you ever caught yourself looking into the mirror, not just looking at the surface, but what's deep in that mirror? Do you see what looks right back at you?
