Fair Game

When caught between a rock and a hard spot,
Should we hope the rock is soft? Of course not.
Sure, some rocks are harder than other ones,
But never have I met one truly soft,
No, not even relatively speaking!
A rock's a rock, always hard more or less,
And life too, sometimes swell, but more a mess.
I'm not trying to sound like a High Priest,
Just to face facts, the nature of "the beast."
Show me a spider without some venom.
Never have I met one, on all the earth.
We are the humans, more or less the same,
And they the spiders (poisoning their game) .
And our game? Never have I met someone
That masterful, nor that nearly perfect.
The human game is learning to improve,
Striving for perfect trust and perfect love.
That is the nature of the human beast.
And the monster of the game? That's Nonsense,
Like an amoeba that devours your brain.
That's the one playing games with common sense,
Tricking you to pursue soft rocks in vain,
To dread dangers that hardly ever come,
And thus risk very real dangers of pain.
That is the nature of the monstrous beast:
To make our best aspirations its feast,
And to make us destroy what we most love.
