The Spelling Bee

Oh Spelling Bee, landing with your proboscis ready
To quaff from the depths of the blossom
Of the honeysuckle vine, how joyful you are!
Clearly, your buzzing warrants every beat;
You and the blossom have been made to meet!
But you teach me not just flight, but grounding,
To not always make an astounding thing
Out of my ideas. I understand
The wisdom in the quieting to land.
Now as you draw up the nectar, an ancient legacy
And an enduring reality, you are strengthened
For the meadow, full of flowering possibilities.
Praise the maker of the brew you just drew!
Hers is the enchantment behind your bliss,
Mother Earth her name. I, as a daughter
Of the same spirit as are you,
Now partake as well of the boon, which the blossom offers.
Where you suck, Oh Spelling Bee, there suck I.
Feeling stronger, I too take up my besom, and fly!
Author's Notes: The eighteenth line might ring a bell. Ariel recites, "Where the bees sucks, there suck I", in The Tempest, Act V, Scene 1, Shakespeare.
