Extraordinary Magic

Up from between the rocks and the hard ground
Struggles the wildflower without one sound,
And yet it bears a message so profound!
It gets a grip on life against the odds.
We call it a weed, a curse of the gods,
Indifferent and sometimes mean to us,
But must we, after all, be the focus?
Scientists call it phototropism,
But I rather take it as a vision
Of magic beyond the ordinary.
Just as perfection is the quest in me,
Light is the quest driving this wild lily.
Having sensed light, how it curses darkness!
What the farmer curses, the heavens bless:
The light and the perfection both must come
From something as glorious as the sun.
Wild Flower, I therefore also bless you,
Just as the Higher Powers gladly do!
