My Shadow! My Friend!

Across the surface of the pond of truth,
The shadows and the shapes of what holds true
Dance to the dance of the whistling, mild breeze,
The reflected beauty of old, old trees.
Without life to feel, nor brains to know them,
The Divine Spirit no doubt would grow them,
As beautifully as they get grown now.
There seems to be neither rhyme nor reason,
But Mother Earth knows the soundest season.
Besides, is that not the brightest reason?
Therefore, I live life committed to love,
As old, old trees keep on growing above,
And, between the shapes and the shadows, tend
To your welfare, my shadow, and my friend.
