The Passion of the Wild Winds

Absentmindedness is the price she pays
For being creative. We talk in tune,
When suddenly she gets this far off gaze
Into the dreamy domain of Neptune.
It is as if my friend were in some trance,
To feel the passion of the wild winds, or,
Taking in the meaning of Shiva's dance,
To know the cosmos at its very core.
Excellence is the reward of living
Creatively, not mere work for profit.
Does not man do deeds beyond forgiving,
In such perversions of the sound spirit?
We deem excellence to be worth the price,
Sometimes even personal sacrifice.
