My life has been about growing wiser,
Not richer, surely not a resume
Dear to most employers! They want strivers
After things which can be measured and weighed.
It is good to grow both ways, but rarely
Can we. One trades the one for the other.
For a change, some gifts get given fairly!
Wisdom much prefers a loyal lover.
Choosing wisdom has cost more than I thought
In emotional pain. Would I again?
Growing wiser means doing as we ought
In a kind sense. It would be worth the pain.
It is hard to help with little money,
But together, we can do it! No doubt,
Rich people with poor hearts live most vainly:
Giving our best is what life is about.
