A Cat Named Today

Sometimes Today is so beautiful that
You choose lions later to save the cat.
The pain of so much valuing Today
Is sooner or later having to pay.
Karmic debts are not readily discharged,
And waiting only makes them get enlarged.
Oh please, Grim Reaper, give me one more month
To listen to the beauty of this tune!
So touching! Please, give me just one more week
For the fine finale of the music!
Oh please, Grim Reaper, give me one more day
To keep enacting the tale! Let us play!
But the curtain falls. Not even an hour
Granted, with the choice made, the debt is ours.
Oh please, Grim Reaper, just one more minute
To savor all the things, so good, so cute!
Oh please, one more time, just one more heartbeat
To celebrate the boon: we could thus meet!
The curtain has fallen. Paid is the debt.
Sadness is losing the things you love. Yet,
You loved Today that much. Why feel regret?
May we work with melancholy sunsets.
