Oh Artemis,

If in this world any justice may be,
May dogs be in the Elysian Fields!
Beside the heroes of the Trojan war,
Epitomes of the greatest bravery,
May dogs roam, that fought battles, and that healed
The victims with their steadfast devotion.
May dogs regard the Grecian Heaven as home,
Their sacred hunting ground, forevermore!
Any time day or night, as honored guards
May dogs make howling, barking commotion,
To keep away the countless, jealous souls
Of those who had not earned the blessed goal.
While dogs savor the howling of their peers,
May Cupid always scratch behind their ears!
