Plainly Divine,

Fall is when I love to watch leaves grow bright,
With red! and brown! and orange! and yellow!
For with these hues my spirit takes to flights
Of fancy, to a blessed tomorrow!
Then even yesterday takes on a hue
Brighter than the shades of gray remembered!
Leaf to leaf, hour to hour, all which I knew
Still is, but now - home to an upbeat Bird!
The song She sings has some sad notes, and yet
The happy notes pop up over the rest.
That upbeat Bird sounds not at all upset,
Perched over what used to be her full nest.
Oh Goddess, or plain bird, please do sing still,
Your hymn full of joy which comes with good will!
