Fair Chance

Dragonlike and fiery, their jaws gape
To consume the reasons of human goals.
Rarely does a resolution escape
The myriad of dreams, which thus switched rolls:
Those dreams, once like steeds that had carried far
The will of man as their lord and master,
Have grown to overpower, and now are
In charge for being mentally faster.
Into the depths of mind goals get swallowed,
Slow to realize, leaving poetry
And hopes behind again to make hallowed
The enchantment of pristine piety!
Just as the waxing moon lights up darkness,
There is truth too in what the poets know,
And beauty in the visions they express.
Should dreams not eat, nor have the chance to grow?
