Sonnet on Iris the Beautiful

Age Group: Adult
Bob may say, "I guess it has stopped raining, "
But Bill adds, "Wow, just look at that rainbow!"
For Bob, the stopping has the meaning, "Go
On with living." His life is some plain thing,
Like a dragonfly never to take wing,
Never showing its iridescent show!
What Bob might have been! Never will we know!
Prosaic Bob - a corpse in the making!
Poetic Bill lives a different tale,
Whose sense of beauty always will prevail!
Bill feels fair Iris, who lives on and on,
After the fleeting side of life has gone,
And this way life is richer and more fun.
He goes farther, not being on the run!
