Sorcery I: This Terrible Deed
by Julian the Apostate
Age Group: Adult
Well met - well matched
He who seeks counsel from eldritch gods,
Whose plans are hatched
In wakeful slumber - the doors of perception
Unlatched - creeping through cracks
Fissures that can no longer be patched...
As for me - I bleed
Fevered, an addict - my need for speed!
To fuel a mighty, terrible deed
Planting a seed, to grow in the shade
The tree of Daath, the realm of Qlippoth
Reverse the flow of that which was made
The crime of the Demiurge (he who would lead,
Whose gospel is greed)
I course the infinite on unmanifest steed
Bring forth the light! The sun at midnight
All things revealed to the one who sees
with blackened eyes
All things made clear to the crossroad's sight
The second death – the death of meth
Santa Muerte! Truth and delusion equally bright
It’s been years since I've slept, but the last time I did
Of an orange-berried tree
A woman held forth three berries to me
"Eat of the fruit, and you shall see"
Awake! Awake! I wept
For things appeared as they truly are - clarity
I saw all things present and past
But of the future, only that which could not come to be
For one berry I kept, as though to make it last
A repository for all fantasy
My misery - that blasted tree
Aphrodite! The epitome of all beauty
Sent Her other half, the trickster Mercury
Bearing nine hits of liquid 5-meo-amt
As that powerful draught coursed inside
Flowed through my veins, to my brain
A psychedelic quicksilver ride
The end-goal of alchemy attained - in truth I died
There was no more outside
Through tunnels I flew, I sought to hide
From the God of Voodoo
Black and white striped, moving in bones
The Lord of the Pied
I was brought to that self of myself, my soul of souls
The secret Bride
In rainbow serpents She moved unmoving - infinite-eyed
Staring right through me, peacock feathers
Each eye wild and wide
The Queen of Quimbanda!
In stupor I tried to form words of the tide
Of prophecy - the things I could see
Beyond all vision, for Forms stood revealed to me
But the voice that spoke was not mine
Or so I've been told - do not deride -
But the Queen of Quimbanda - Pomba Gira - Babalon
The one who resides in my heart - in whose heart I abide
