Man to Boy Talk
by Radko Vacek
Age Group: Adult
Once, our lips so briefly touched, a secret
Kept by the tree hiding us, girl and boy.
It was upon the playground that we met
And since it was a time for budding joy,
Once upon a time this enchantment coy
With little girl's charms arose, but for shame
Abruptly to end. Lightning bolts destroy
Saplings, but also mature trees may maim.
I sang of love for her, when others came
And, in embarrassment I ran away
Forever. Dear boy, let nothing defame
The sanctity of love, whether today
In childhood, or when you're as old as I.
To disappear! It's sand in your girl's eye!
