How to Choose a Miracle
by Radko Vacek
Age Group: Adult
What if, while walking and reading a book
Of poetry, from no apparent source,
The page started glowing, and as clear as
Day, the text appeared? How might the lines go?
Would they reveal what loving powers show
To someone who reads even as days pass
Into darkness? To want verse with the force
Of a panting hound dog, seeking a brook
After chasing game on an afternoon
In midsummer! Without that strong a love,
Should we expect a miracle? We choose,
But might angels then magnify our choice?
Here comes a miraculous, divine voice,
But, choosing to say "just a bird", we lose!
With the right mindset, little ranks above
Witnessing the ascent of a full moon!
