Passing of a Loved One
by Silverflame
Age Group: Adult
Shimmering skin beneath a bright sky
water laps gently at your toes
like an obedient dog
waiting for a scratch behind the ears.
Eyes close
listen to the laughter of youth
rushing through your veins
that once smooth surface
ruptured by hard lines
likened to that of an ancient willow tree
swaying in the wind.
Grass kissed by dew drops
wettens your backside
and creates a seat not bought
in any department store.
The light in the sky brightens
and then fades.
And the Mother kisses you
a forever goodnight.
Author's Notes: i was in a very peaceful mood yet thinking about the recent death of my great-grandmother who passed away October 10, 2004. she was 96 years old. Goddess rest your soul, grandma.
