Age Group: Adult

The sun will rise again
But if the night remains
I've never left your side
My love always sustains

And if the mountains fall
And floods rise to the sky
You will still feel my love
For never gone am I

The phrase with action seen
And many times I've said
"I love you" now and always
Long after I am dead

My soul transcends this plane
In living years I've shown
Just simply think of me
And know you're not alone.

Author's Notes: Dedicated first and foremost to my Mother. And secondarily, to all whom I love.

This poem is based on what my Mother wrote to me in 1974, written on the reverse side of a painting. Someone whom I don't know, whose name is Peggy Suggs, a friend of my deceased artist Auntie Eve (Eve McCoy) , painted a beautiful picture of my Mother sitting in a pose of elegance in a beautiful amber colored dress, as if looking aside into the distance and contemplating a moment of peaceful happiness.

On the reverse side of the painting, back in 1974 when I was only three years old and later an addendum in 1976, my Mother wrote the following to me, and my half brother, and my half sister. I am the youngest of the three. May her words inspire in you what has been inspired in us.

Dear Children,

As you know, I am leaving you "other" paintings -- Look on the backs. Also, these words are given to tell all of you: I ADORE and TREASURE you all, you are all like the adoring sons and daughter should be to me. My happiness would be for this mutual feeling to last all our lives.

Signed with my love forever -- and ever -- to all of you,

Now I ask of you that my youngest son, whom I treasure and love dearly, has this painting of me, because he said (at 6 years old) he really wants it.

Remember, my Children "I WILL remain near to each of you giving my love -- even after I am gone -- you have only to think of me and quiet strength and love. Believe, accept, and trust God to guide your lives and you will have peace and true happiness."

I am so happy you are my children.

Your Mother,

And She is still alive at age 71, and She will be most pleased when I give her this poem. There is nothing like the bond between a Mother and her children.
