My Brother

I never chose you
Nor did you choose me
And now, after all these years
We are still friends.
Through all our heartaches
There were others
Ones who came,
And ones who went --
They are but memories now...
But you and I
Have always been there.
You never failed me
And I was there for you
Endlessly learning together
Growing, discovering,
Becoming two who are one,
And one bond of two:
In spirit, in this lifetime,
And always,
My Brother!
Your ups and my downs
My joys and your losses
Solar cycles, solar tides,
Solar years, solar lifetimes...
Our cycles compliment each other
We have always been there
Somehow, someway, and always
For each other.
Like no man ever could,
Save my own beloved Father:
You love me for who I am
It has always been this way,
Never planned
Ever seeking
And we just knew.
Respect, trust, honesty, and determination --
We just knew.
It always has just Been,
It always Is,
And I cherish,
From challenging our fears
To utter compassion,
My Word, Your Word, Our Bond
It will always Be
And now, once again
And again, endlessly...
How no secrets exist
Our confidence is a given
Through joy and hatred
Through the thick, and the thicker,
And through joyous celebrations of life!
Masculine communication
Our understanding through silence --
No words, just shared thoughts
A fraction of misplaced emotion
A millisecond of lost control
A moment of overbearing focus
Watching the other learn
And learning through each other
As only a masculine bond can be,
My Brother,
My friend,
More than those I have loved,
And those I still miss deeply
And those who will come and go
You are one who exists through time
Who has always been on my side,
Who has fervently earned my trust!
Through dedication, through boldness
Through fearless courage and purpose
Steadfast and valor,
Bravery and sheer will
My loyalty is yours,
An eternal team of indivduals
Through our natural synergy,
Always creating that which is far more
Than ourselves.
Only you can understand
As only a man can,
The true meaning of these words
Found only in the deepest realm of my existence
So hard to say,
But you are there
And the courage is finally found
To just "be"
TO JUST BE!
As men were meant to exist
And shall always exist
The way it was always meant to be
No shame, no blame, no judgement
Just the pride of being a MAN
The most healing I have ever known,
Has come from you.
Through all codes of chivalry,
And all codes of honor,
From the life of my own blood
I dedicate this solemn promise to you:
I shall be on your side.
Forever, and ever.
I love you,
My friend, my twin soul,
My best friend in the world,
Myself found in you,
Peace, where it is found at last
And shall ever be found.
Two souls, resonating as one --
My Brother.
