Keeping Enough For Yourself

Magick is as Magick does
Don't curse yourself like that
Don't cast yourself such ugly thoughts
Like, I'm too thin or fat
'Cause Magick is as Magick does
And others take a hint
They see you like you see yourself
Through shades with your own tint
The ones who know will help you grow
They'll like you as you are
The ones who don't are merely clouds
Who hide your shining star
Your Magick lets the clouds remain
Somehow you let them stay
But life experience tells you how
To clear the clouds away
For Magick is as Magick does
Do not become self-cursed
Don't drain yourself of what you need
For once, you must come first.
Author's Notes: Dedicated to a friend of mine who gives to everyone else, except to self because my friend thinks it is selfish to give to self. Well all I have to say is, bull malarkey!
The premise that love is something you should give away so that you can have more, is valid. But you can't give it away if you don't have enough for yourself in the first place.
Too many people give, give, give of themselves and find that they are left empty because no one seems to give back. Or more specifically, the one they love doesn't seem to give back. That's simply a sign that one is giving too much away and not keeping enough for themselves.
Love is a special energy that tends to grow in the presence of itself. You're not being selfish if you keep some to yourself, because it is your responsibility to allow love to grow inside yourself. When you do that, you will have enough to give away the vast surplus. But the surplus is what is meant to give away, not the amount you're suppose to keep for yourself, because love cannot grow if you're giving it away too fast. Keep some for yourself for a change and see what happens.
