Fluffy Bunny

I once saw a fluffy bunny
With its soft poofy puffy fur
But then, when I pet its head
It suddenly started to purr!
Those ears, they began to shrink
And its tail, it grew so long
It suprisingly said "meow"
I could sense something going wrong...
I said, "Dear fluffy bunny,
Don't be mischievous like an elf,
Your tricks, they are most amusing
But I'd prefer that you be yourself.
You have much to prove to yourself,
When you do, I know you'll go far;
But with me, and for the time being,
Just be the fluffy bunny you are."
But its fur turned to lively feathers
And then it grew colorful wings
Those meows turned to sweety tweet-tweets
Just the same as a birdie sings!
The feathers then disappeared
As the wings thinned out so flat
Hanging all the way upside down
Was this precarious vampire bat.
Bright green feathers then overcame it
As a dash of red made it a parrot
But the real truth was quickly revealed
When I showed it a yummy carrot!
Flying hastily down to the ground
Right back down to its starting place
It glanced one more time to see
The doubt written all 'cross my face.
I said, "Dear fluffy bunny,
Don't be mischievous like an elf,
Your tricks, they are most amusing
But I'd prefer that you be yourself.
You have much to prove to yourself,
When you do, I know you'll go far;
But with me, and for the time being,
Just be the fluffy bunny you are."
With a squawk, a screech, and a tweet,
And a final meow out of habit,
This strange fluffy bunny creature
Was once again a regular rabbit!
With a large cottonball for a tail
I offered the carrot, for sure,
To this strange little fluffy bunny
With the soft poofy puffy fur.
