Before I Face One of THOSE Days

Dear Great Renowned and Unseen Force,
I've a favor to ask, if I may --
Could you please protect and surround me, of course,
For today will be one of "those" days...
With so much today I can't fathom tomorrow
Though I know you'll be there too;
And whether this day ends in joy or in sorrow
Remind me my source lies in you.
Watch over no matter how frantic I get
Help me to remain at ease,
Provide me with patience each time that I fret,
And one pot of coffee, please.
At some point I know I'll forget you're around
But still you are there just the same.
Remind me of this when all seems to confound,
And I no longer know my own name.
Enfold me and hold me in your loving arms
Today when I face all the mess,
With steam from my ears you will hear the alarms,
So stop me BEFORE I transgress.
The thought of today gives me such a cold sweat,
And there is no choice but to start.
But if this will work, never let me forget --
I must always do "my" part.
And at your behest, so that I remain stable
I will do my best like I should.
And once this day ends, may I simply be able
To look back and know I did good.
