Infinity, Part 2

by Phronesus Disegno

Age Group: Adult

Always potential
Endlessly incomplete thoughts
Never actual

Author's Notes: Have you ever really thought of the concept of infinity? What if we achieved finding truth. Well, then that would be the boundary, wouldn't it? Infintity has no boundaries. If one is to believe that the truth is achieved with infinite knowledge, then it is clear that we cannot achieve truth with finite minds and perception.

But you know what? That's okay. Even those who disagree with us have minds of their own. I have always suspected that it is okay to find out why others believe differently. I might actually learn something I need to know. And then it is up to me to determine how I will use the knowledge. It always was up to me, as is every decision in my life.

Differences are okay to me. Sometimes I bond with people who are genuinely passionate about their beliefs, simply because they chose to believe so strongly. Even if their beliefs do not coincide with mine. As odd as it may sound, that is one thing we have in common with others who believe differently as strongly as we believe differently with them. All that matters in the end is that we all believe in something that makes life worth living. Our own lives never were, and never will be, truly under the control of anyone else. I don't need legal recognition to be married, but in my heart I am. I don't need anyone else's approval, and yet, I get it when I am non-judgemental of others who are mature enough to know that their life is their own.

And of course, that is only my personal opinion. But it is based on what I would like to believe is a well-informed decision. After all, beliefs are what make us all who we are, and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's actually the reason I like people who are different than I am -- because they know who they are. They know themselves, just as I know myself. Every person I ever met, I am connected to. It never hurts to understand, or to listen. And anyone who cares enough to share from the heart, is someone I will listen to. I will never lose myself in the process, but, if knowledge is the goal, then going outside of myself is the way to achieve it.

And I will, when I achieve infinity.
