Grieving the Loss of a Loved One

by Phronesus Disegno
 Age Group: Adult

What we do after having lived life After birth comes the chance to stand tall Cutting through like a dull-bladed knife In the end, death comes for us all
Mourning softly my heart as I grieve Celebration of life is an art Left to wonder what I should believe Empty silence exists in my heart
Not a feeling or thought anywhere Not even the darkness or light No confusion to comfort and care Senses lost far beyond day and night
A reminder from those who are gone We remain looking skyward above The sun rises each day at dawn Life exists because we are of love
Life is just what you make it to be All is shared when we take and we give Times like these it's apparent to me How important life is to live
Life is perceived many ways Ups and downs, more and less, and some No one knows how to count all the days But we all know our day will come
When it seems life has just begun Watching helpless as those who die Standing by, nothing much to be done Understanding, I vaguely ask why
In the end, death comes for us all Cutting through like a dull-bladed knife After birth comes the chance to stand tall What we do after having lived life
Empty silence exists in my heart Left to wonder what I should believe Soon I'll celebrate life as an art But for now I'll mourn softly and grieve.
