Two Can Play That Game

You demand your personal choice
And your right to change your mind
Living life as the truth evolves
With any new knowledge you find
To choose whom you shall love
And to choose whom you shall not
For if ever you do the wrong thing
It is not my choice if you rot...
So,

Author's Notes: A poem I dug out of my archives, probably written in 2002 sometime. Back at that time, I changed my mind after dating someone for just under a year. I guess I might not have left him if he didn't have so many double-standards.
He thought I deserved revenge for breaking up with him after deciding that it just wasn't right for me to continue, but it isn't called revenge if it is bestowed upon an innocent person. He wasn't a bad guy, but the more time I spent with him, the more time I realized I was just plain not happy. It doesn't mean it was all his fault, but some of it was his fault and we "both" had a lot of learning to do.
After we broke up, it was too bad he thought he had the right to be my judge, jury and executioner. He really wanted me to suffer because he was so unhappy about my decision to leave... but he was the only one who suffered.
