Four of Cups

Sitting there against a tree
With arms crossed in a wonder
An apple falls upon his head
But he remains in hunger
Sitting there against a tree
Just trying to avoid the phone
His friends and lovers always call
But he feels so alone
Sitting there against a tree
He thinks about his dreams
Yes, ones that could be true enough
But aren't yet, it seems
Sitting there against a tree
He hears the birds in song
But blocks them out of sight and mind
To focus on what's wrong
"In need of inner work you are, "
Said a nearby faerie elf,
"Find the value of self within,
And the outer will care for itself."
