Lavender Blues

They say lavender does many things
For most everyone it does right
Safe for skin, for it aids in healing
And it helps you to sleep at night.
Yes its fragrance is one I have loved
For all time, yet I don't know why
In a soap, a bath salt or oil
Lifts my mood when I want to cry.
They say it can curb a libido
I've not used it for that quite yet
But between my attraction and crying
It may help me avoid great regret.
And of all of these wonderful things
That the fragrance of lavender can do
I should see if it works for me
For I know I'm not noticed by you.
And yet when I do come around
You seem to enjoy when I stay
But my thoughts and intentions shall hide
For each time, you just walk away.
Can the lavender cure broken hearts?
Can it heal longing just for you?
Can it change what I feel deep inside?
No, I doubt those things it can do.
I have done all of this before
Down that block and around that bend
Why do I just keep going back
One might think, by now it should end.
But if lavender does many things
Perhaps it will help time pass by
I will stay, you'll walk away.
This won't be the last time that I cry.
Author's Notes: For those who know me, this is not about my sweetheart. It's about someone else who never gave me a chance. Sometimes, I guess, it's just not meant to be. And oh, it really would be a mistake for me to try to make it something it isn't. Yeah, it would. Actually, I don't know. Nothing ever happened, and all that I got out of that "nothingness" was more and more tantalizing fantasy of what could have happened. But that's all it was, or is, just fantasy and curiosity that got the best of me. I suspect part of life is realizing there are just some things that make you feel like you will always have missed something. But what, I wonder? Maybe it's more important to focus on what I'm not missing. At least it's not the unknown.
