Why They Fear Us

by Phronesus Disegno
 Age Group: Adult

I suspect I know why they fear us It's because of what we know But we earned all of our knowledge We seek, therefore we grow.
We may have experienced pain It is wrong to say we didn't Or maybe we were just lucky Understanding shall never be hidden
Forget all the horrible curses And all they say we could do What I know is just for me And the same is true for you
Ah yes, we could do harm We could play on their ignorance What you do is just up to you In this religious political dance
As for me, I just tell the truth But then, I am simply "me" There is not much more I can do That would set our diverse beliefs free
For you may believe one thing And I may believe some other In the end, we are all the same Brother and Sister, Father and Mother.
But let me just say one thing Who you are is really "you" And all things you enact and proclaim Will be tested by that which is true
So experiment with love and hate Do all that which will help you learn For all things that make you "you" Are things that you have, and will earn
But give the unbelivers a chance As they do for us, you see We shall always decide on our own Who and what we'll evolve to be
And what you choose to do Represents only who you are Choose wisely, my Magickal friends Your actions are viewed from afar
Live and learn everything that you can Live and learn all there is to do Live and learn what life is about Live and learn of that person, "you"
Oh yes, they are carefully watching Both in fear and curiosity Never shall I say what you must do But may they see love I have in ME
And who you are is up to you And who you are, you must be It's the same for every last one Ain't life grand with diversity? ;-)
I suspect I know why they fear us It's because of what we know But we earned all of our knowledge We seek, therefore we grow.
Author's Notes: And you know, I've learned something. When you are really who you are, people adapt. You don't have to change for anyone. Never was I so surrounded by loving friends as when I told them about what I believed without trying to convince them that it was what they should believe too. Yeah, I've had a few raised eyebrows. But people sense when you mean no harm. And when you are loved for who you really are on the inside, it's the best feeling in the world. But it takes maturity on both parties to deal with it. And if they disagree, let them... It is their right. But it doesn't mean you have to agree. Just be friends, I suppose, if you want to, and if they want to too. Just be who you are, and that is certainly enough. No blame, no accusations -- your example will prevail. Okay, time once again for me to get off my soapbox. ;-) (big wink!)
