For the Men

Age Group: Adult
Sixty hours in the week
Add up in just five days
Day off to rest
Another to prepare
Are weekend's only ways.
And on those days I work
Change oil for the car
Appliances, plumbing
And yard work numbing
And pushing my limits far.
Weed flowerbeds, fix shingles
Rip out, repair, and replace
The carpenter's guild
Break down, rebuild
Sometimes in cramped attic space.
Tree planting, pruning, insecticide
Knock down that large wasp nest
To fix that leak
Remodel this week
Move furniture at one's behest.
And one moment to sit down
Asked once again to dash --
It's why I grunt
To things you want
Like taking out the trash.
Saying I never help around the house,
You call me a total shirk!
Surprise, surprise!
Dear, open your eyes!
All these things I do ARE housework!
