Flying Eagle, Jealous Bunny

There once was a little bunny
Who was maddened and irritated;
For the eagle's flight was respected,
And the bunny's respect belated.
So the bunny cried to the eagle
"I can't fly, " the bunny whined,
"And the sky is all yours, all yours!"
Bunny sobbed, and wailed, and pined.
And the eagle built bunny a ladder
To climb and sit high in the tree;
Said bunny, who still couldn't fly,
"Not enough! Not enough for me!"
The eagle perched next to the bunny,
"Bunny, why are you still so grim?"
They "talked" and "talked" for hours,
But "did" nothing out on that limb.
The eagle was one day shot down,
Dead as ever was bunny's friend;
"It's eagle's fault that I can't fly,
But 'I' won't get shot in the end!"
Little bunny, still jealous of eagle
In the tree, on the ground, did remain;
"One day I will fly like the eagle,
Until then I shall always complain!"
Though bunny had every last thing,
"Build a plane for me, myself to exalt!"
But the plane shared the sky with bullets...
Still again, it was dead eagle's fault.
Author's Notes: Fervent blame is rarely justified, and actually says more about the one (s) laying blame than the one (s) receiving it.
Based on an ongoing story I am witnessing in my life. I am glad this story does not pertain directly to me.
Thanks for reading. I really needed to vent.
