THE PRICE OF SELFISHNESS

Where were you when;
I needed help?
I needed friendship?
I needed companionship?
I needed guidance?
I needed a shoulder to cry on?
I needed love?
Where were you? Not here, not with me.
You were off in your own little world.
A fantasy realm.
I was shut out into the cold of null space in your heart, while you placed yourself upon a pedestal.
Demanding daily sacrifices in your honor, like some false god.
I, like a fool, gave them to you. Toiled for you. Striving to do everything possible to make our relationship work, and fill it with love.
Now, it has come full circle.
It is now my turn to fly.
I will spread my wings, like a raptor, and take flight. Leaving you far behind me.
I loathe doing so, but I have arisen from my trials.
I will continue on.
I will survive and more.
Weep, when you hear my rage filled cry above you. Knowing you cannot hurt me anymore.
