The Crossroads©

Age Group: Adult
I stand at the crossroads
Two directions force my decision
The path I was on, once wide and open
Now forces me to choose a direction that is narrow and dark
I cannot be forced into either
I can only decide
I do not fear nightmares dark hand
Nor do I fear the devil’s minions at his command
Both paths promise each one
Both paths promise an ending to life
I, already wounded – battered – dissatisfied within
Rally my soul for more
Knowing what awaits, does not humble me
It fills me with rage
Knowing what temptations await, knowing what temptresses reside within
I plunge headlong into the dark abyss
Of one of the paths
Never to emerge again
