Tears of Diamonds, Tears of Steel©

Age Group: Adult
When looking upon this life,
One cannot help but feel lost in its magnitude,
A life once promising and nourished,
Now lays dying on life’s commons, withered and crude.
A heart, as compassionate – loving – and true,
Once verdant and flush,
Now marbled with the blackness of death,
Creeping over its surface slowly, no haste or rush.
A soul that wanted nothing more than happiness,
Prosperity, and growth,
Screams silently in agony,
As the pain of decay claims its final worth.
Grieve for this one,
Let it not die in vain,
Weep tears of diamonds,
Let it not go hither, knowing only disdain.
If hope were be thrust upon it,
It would be wracked with spasm,
If love, unconditional and pure, were impaled through it,
Would it be rescued from destruction’s chasm.
The soul would be given new life,
And reanimated into the soul it formerly was; with the ability to feel,
Then no longer would sorrow be its epitaph,
And it would cry only tears of steel.
