If I Love

I am gone, but I never left
I am here, yet I'm far away
And within, I am still the same
Through all time, plus another day
You were there, and I always knew
I was not, though I ever was
We never asked the question why
Ever known it was simply because.
If I love, then I always will
When I know, it shall always be
Life may challenge what we can have
But we'll always have you and me.
