When a Friend Smiles

Your expression beams into a perfect smile
Your eyes sparkle with genuine delight
Your face glows with radiant joy
No, you didn't just win a lottery
You are simply...
You are simply happy to see me.
...I seize that moment yet again...
Within a fraction of time too small to measure
And I remember it now, looking back.
Experiencing feelings of love
That waited until now to emerge;
Surrounded by warm thoughts
That never tire from lonliness;
And remembering to remember
The best things in life are free...
Somewhere lost in a surreal memory
Yet remembered in perfect clarity
I am certain I caught one small glimpse
Of the face of God.
