You Can't Be Yourself Until...

Sometimes you think you know it all
And that is where you will fall
And may I contest
One thing that is best
That may your soul ever enthral
Male and female this
And male an female that
Just look 'fore you leap
This secret to keep
For if you don't, watch for the SPLAT!
For gay or straight we are one
And lesbian, all has begun
The same is the same
Both credit and blame
Live life before it is done.
Don't care if you agree with me
Live life and I'm sure you will see
We are all the same
No reason to blame
Be yourself, and no other be.
And yes, I may be an elf
My mischief is stored on my shelf
Life's path you must go
And yourself you must know
If ever you can be yourself.
Author's Notes: You can't be yourself until you know yourself.
You can't know yourself until you take the time to get to know yourself.
You can't get to know yourself until you make the effort to begin, and then continue from that day forward.
And you can make the effort, and that is how to be yourself.
Love always. And a great big smooch on your cheek if you'll let me. ;-) That is, unless you are wearing stage make-up, in which case we'll have to do one of those kissy-kissy things in which we are really kissing the air next to each other without actually touching so that "I" won't "also" be wearing make-up, but it will still look like we're doing the socially appropriate thing. Heaven forbid that "I" would ever be socially inappropriate. ;-) (Smooch!)
Yeah, I'm in a really good mood right now. Can you tell? Do you want to know why? It's because I have just been reminded that I am liked for who I am by friends and loved ones. And in addition, someone I haven't spoken with in two whole days wrote me an email with a subject line of "missing you".
So the next time someone asks you who you are, and you know the answer, it's something to feel good about. If you don't know who you are, then prepare yourself to meet the most fantabulous person in the whole wide world who will ever and always be a part of your life, and everyone else will think so too, but for different reasons. Having friends is like standing in a room full of mirrors, you get to see yourself from many different angles. And incidentally, it's also great for putting on stage make-up. (wink!)
And speaking of that, who are you? ;-)
