Why Hope Can Never Be Lost

I'm awake before you again,
You're still asleep in my arms
And I begin thinking...
I am basking in a lost hope
One that I once had long ago
Am I being unreasonable? :-|
As if ashamed to feel secure
As if guilty to feel protected
As if underserving to feel safe.
But wait, is this what I feel?
Secure, protected and safe... yes.
Ashamed, guilty and undeserving... a little. :-)
To bask in a lost hope
When I am with you, maybe,
I will do it for just a moment...
...for the alarm will ring soon,
The reality of life shall reign again,
Rationality, logic, and ...on second thought, :-|
Quit thinking.
Okay, don't quit thinking.
Think about experiencing this moment.
I'll take this moment,
To bask in my lost hope
Right here, right now, I will.
And when I go away for the day,
I'll take this moment with me,
Because that is what I choose to do.
And my passing thoughts shall whisper
That the hope surely isn't lost
Because it has always been near my heart.
"Near my heart?"
I place my hand over my heart,
And for the first time, I felt it there, my hope.
I looked down at my hand on my chest,
And there was my hope, smiling at me.
It was in my shirt pocket the whole time. :-)
Author's Notes: Lost hope never goes away. Like a memory that has faded but is still there waiting to be remembered, hope is never really lost. It always remains, and never moves away from the place you last put it. Sometimes you have to so some Spring Cleaning to find it, but it's there. And sometimes, another person comes along and points it out to you, because cause you didn't know you left it out in the open. ;-)
And when you're ready to have one of your lost hopes again, I am thinking it will let you know where it has been hiding in your life, because it will appear from out of nowhere and smile at you, and you'll just have to notice it. You'll even have to smile back at it. ;-) Figuratively speaking, of course. I think you know what I mean.
But perhaps you'll have to encourage it a little bit, it may be a little shy from being in hiding for so long. Or maybe, your hope is trying to encourage you. Or maybe, you're trying to work out some sort of deal with it... but whatever the case, it is there, never lost.
