The Unknowns of Magickal Intent

by Phronesus Disegno
 Age Group: Adult

They say to be specific Each time you create change So you'll get what you asked for In place of something strange
But I have utter faith In what is yet unknown All things remain connected All things through which I've grown
Achieving such high frequency Both healthy and insane Residing there not always Peace grounded in the mundane
No need for such control O'er things I can't predict O'er things not known affected I shan't be quite so strict
Unknowns in all I do Holding fast to the mundane Faith in whatever happens I learn each time, again
And each time that I do, Is one new lesson learned; And each new lesson learned Is life experience earned.
So learn and learn and learn, And learn and learn and learn. And if you didn't get that, Then learn and learn and learn. :-)
No need for harsh specifics Change constant from the start Change always grants my needs When guided by my heart.
Author's Notes: It is said that the only constant is change. I sometimes wonder, why do some demand change so vehemently as if it were some scarce resource available only to the privileged? It's already abundant for everyone, although it sometimes feels like being thrown in a river and washed a ways downstream where you didn't want to go.
I view all events in the world as interconnected; being only one person in the world, I am not qualified to make any drastic world changes. And if I believe that I am part of the world, it follows that the world events have a significant impact on my personal life over which "absolute" control is not feasible or possible in my own life because everything I do involves some cooperation and involvement from others as I am immersed in a pre-existing trend with significant momentum already carrying me along.
Unknowns in any intent are always there, and with practice, they fade into insignificance. Sometimes, however, failures in achieving an intent are really a matter of inexperience or miscalculation of the necessary effort. Everyone must make adjustments to stay on course in order to arrive at the goal. Or if you're being washed downstream in the river against your will, you need to get out of it before doing anything else.
Much like driving, I can make my vehicle go fast to get from one place to another, and hopefully it is not in a town that I am not familiar with because I don't like getting lost. In any case, I am sharing the roads and highways with other drivers and do indeed depend on them, or should I say that we all depend on each other, not to have an accident that prevents anyone's arrival to any intended destination. While I may have no intent of interfering with another's travel plans, my directives must work with others and do affect their decisions. Like when I want to drive the speed limit, I sometimes cause another driver to pass me because they are in a hurry. Well fine, I'll let them pass me to win that race for which the grand prize is a speeding ticket. :-) If I weren't there in the first place, they would not have altered their course long enough to change lanes and get around me.
I think that personal requests, or prayers, or what have you, are many times a lot like this type of scenario. You have a goal in mind as well as a plan to achieve it, but there are always those subtle unknowns and minor course variants that are neither forseeable nor avoidable until the moment they become obvious. Traffic jams, road construction, or even a large semi-truck that prevents you from getting into the lane you need to exit. You take the next exit and must find your way back or take an alternate route to where you wanted to go. It may cause you to lose a few minutes or be a little late arriving, but in the process you learn your way around and that's not a bad thing. If you don't give up, you'll get there. I promise. :-) And if you DO give up, well, how badly did you want to get there in the first place? hee-hee
If your Magic (k) al efforts don't seem to work, stick with them anyway. The more you learn the patterns of life and your place among them, the easier it becomes to formulate clear and feasible goals that you most certainly will achieve. You can't drive across the country in fifteen minutes, but you can probably drive to the grocery store in fifteen minutes. Stay in perspective. Remember when the most you could do was ride a bicycle? Good. Now get in your car and go wherever your heart takes you. Most of us know it's really the journey, and not the destination, that is important. The real and lasting changes always take the most time. So let someone else pass you in a mad rush to get that speeding ticket, and be sure to smile and wave at them on the side of the road as you, in turn, pass them. ;-)
And now I will twirl once in place before stepping down off the soapbox. :-) (TWIRL! ... thud.)
