To My Soulmate Who Always Cared

What the hell, you said you loved me
And it seems, in fact, you do
What the hell, you have shown me
And it seems for a change, it's true
I once chose not to belivee in that
And still, it seems I shall
As if all I most ever wanted
Was just more, still yet, a pal
I have made a fool of myself
And by now I should be in a hearse
But with you, You have seen worse things
Ah yes, we have BOTH seen much worse!
There are no words to describe this event
And no words to describe what we share
For I know of just one thing, just one...
I will do my best as long as you care
You have proven so much already
I know not why I prove to you
Maybe love's mysteries still remain
I love you, I love you, I DO!
What the hell, you said you loved me
And it seems, in fact, you do
What the hell, you have shown me
And it seems for a change, it's true
And here I am left so speechless
Yet you look in my eyes and can see
With both words and action I try
Loving myself, as much as you love me.
Yet you surely have done this before
And with love you seem to just find
I say nary a word but just look
No one ever before read my mind.
And I close this by saying to you
That for once I shall follow my heart
With all failures, and endings, and pain
I thank you, each end brings a start.
And in case you heard not my words,
again I will say straight to you,
So speechless with simple words,
I love you, I love you, I do.
Author's Notes: I am not good enough to relay in a poem the profound feelings of once being rejected by someone I spent three years of my life with, only to find that someone else stuck with me through the whole thing and loves me more than words can say. No really, I have written a bunch of poems, but I am not talented enough to write one that is good enough to share with my soul mate... so I guess I'll just have to resort to other means. ;-)
Personal attention. Phone calls thoughout the day. Pride in his efforts, and his pride in mine. Acceptance and tolerance for differences. Caring and support. So much more than I can say.
But that's okay. I don't need to say it all here. I just need to show it in everyday life. For me that is easy.
It took many years, and much learning, and much maturity, but sometimes you just "know". I knew. It took a lot of practice. We do not consider each other as "husbands" right now. Maybe we're both recovering from past failures and disappointments. But for once, we have found best friends in each other. Whatever that means, the future will tell. And at least we don't have to face the future alone.
I love you. You are indeed the best and most loving person I have ever met. Well, I mean, in person. And I love our times in person. :-) Just one thing... my kitty cat seems to believe she is competition. :-) But I don't see that as a problem... She loves the toys and treats you bought for her.
She approves, wholeheartedly. And so do I. :-)
