Beliefs About Myself

What if my potential, my ability,
to be as extraordinary as I can
no matter how it may be defined
Has been lying in wait, though very patiently,
for I have taken only the first few steps
only to procrastinate, to hesitate in indecision
because I keep stopping to wonder
If it is okay to take charge of my life,
to believe in myself?
And what if my greatest fear
Is not so much another's negative reaction,
But the discovery within myself
I was right the whole time
through all these years now gone,
if only to please the world
at the cost of my own identity
and beliefs about myself?
