They Won't Love Me

Age Group: Adult
I took my moment of worry
And believed that I had no chance
Yes, belief is a powerful thing
In this life's confusing dance.
With compassion I always cared
I have felt many others' pain
It is love that defines who I am
Close to friends shall forever remain
I've believed in all whom I love
I've encouraged a few to see
I believe when they love me back
Only then do I believe in me...
"I want to be hard and stern,
Make me hateful and mean, you can!
Take my feelings away and destroy them!
So I'll never feel pain again!..."
Some beliefs aren't always true
One worry can destroy a thought
My moment of prayer -- interrupted --
With the answer I painfully sought...
"You know you could do great things
You have learned much since you've grown,
Choose love over self-isolation
For you never have been alone;
See yourself as others do,
And you'll find it is not so bad
There are others who'd love you too
But you hide from them when you are sad;
So for once, believe in YOURSELF!
Seeking LIFE, within life's dance;
You know you are loved by your friends,
Give the rest of them all a chance."
