Real

What does one do
When his heart is filled with hate
Should he act as all were fine
That his life is simply great?
Perhaps I know one answer
Though it does not remove the strife
Perhaps I should ask questions
To what is important in life.
Without the questions sought
The answer is never known
And as much as I deny it
The love is always shown.
But if the love is there
And I put it to the test
Is that what I should do,
Will it overcome the rest?
I guess without the guidance
Of the Ones I love who heal
The only answer is prayer
If I shall ever know what's real.
And that which is truly real,
I must surely recognize
If ever I shall distinguish
What is true, from what are lies.
Author's Notes: What is real? The titles of recognition within an organization, or the person who does not relenquish them?
What is real? The one who shows me love, or the loyalty to those within that organization he loves?
Maybe it's me. Maybe I'm the one who needs to change. The hardest part is believing. He cannot dismiss a part of his life just for me. Fifteen years. Maybe I'm the one who needs to adjust.
Who knows? Maybe it's time for me to let go, and just let love be love. He had friends before me. So did I, before him. The friends, I love too. The organization, well, it is unfair and does not recognize the very thing it claims to.
Sometimes things are like that. It has disappointed him too. Maybe what I need to do is just focus on us, instead of putting him through so many tests. It's hard when I have suffered so much. But then again, so has he.
Send your prayers to me, if you feel it's the right thing to do, that I can focus on the here and now, and not on his past, or mine. I do believe love prevails.
