Broken
Two summers ago, we were together,
Can you still remember back when it was we; not you and me?
I thought it was forever.
Sitting here wounded and afraid, I’m caged,
I thought you loved me,
I’m tired of this parade. The past won’t let me leave this captivity.
What a mistake I’ve made. I believe all of your lies.
As if you still stand here at my side.
Promising me no more good-byes.
I had always counted on you. What am I to do?
You taught me to fly then broke my wings…..
I’m broken and on display,
You shattered all my hopes and dreams.
As I watched you walk away.
You gave me so-called love.
I gave you my heart.
My world ripped apart at the seams.
How could you? Didn’t I mean any thing to you?.
You care for me no more.
I wish I could say the same for you.
I’m still lie in pieces scattered all around.
How could you choose her over me?
Now, I see there’s a way out of the dark.
Can I do this? Can I walk away just like you?
I look around and see no one holds me here.
I look back one last time.
To that day on the beach when you first kissed me.
Even in all this pain there is a piece of me that loves you.
Promise me you’ll someday look back and remember me; too. That you’ll see.
This is my final good-bye to you; and to it I’ll always be true.
You gave me taught me to fly then broke my wings…..
I’m broken but no longer on display,
I’m building new hopes and dreams.
You watch now as I walk away.
