Beneath the Smile

Can you see what hides beneath the smile?
The things I feel, but never show?
Do you see the oceans in my eyes?
The depths at which my sorrows flow?
Can you hear the thoughts within my mind?
Dreams that whisper to your soul?
Do your lips yearn the touch of mine?
A warm embrace, soft and slow?
Can you feel my heart beat out of time?
My body tremble, the breath I hold?
Does your flame burn the same as mine?
Buried deep to hide the glow?
Do you mourn the chance we never tried?
The passion and love we'll never know?
Won't you gaze into my drowning eyes?
Look through the window, see my soul?
Can't you see what hides beneath my smile?
A world within I cannot show?
Author's Notes: Written about a relationship that ended to soon and had potential to be great.
