Devotional to the Great God Pan

Hail Thee, Great God Pan
My greatest source of masculine love
Teach to me your ageless wisdom
And the stories of your life thereof
You've healed my wounds of endless pain
Together are we for every jaunt
Witty and courageous fatherly strength
You're truly my buddy and confidant
You make your presence known to me
And the weather need not be fair
Like a father who is always there for his son
Like a brother who will always care
No longer are there sorrowful clouds
My hands are in yours when I pray
Protected and safe in your hairy arms
My friend, just a breath away.
Author's Notes: Okay, from some feedback on this poem, it seems I have raised a few eyebrows mentioning that Pan has "hairy arms". Actually, it sort of makes me giggle to think of it.
You see, if you know anything about Pan, then you know he was not only a protector of nature and fields, but also he was quite the, umm..., well let's say, his libido was off the scale. In fact, the medical term "satyrism" is used to describe men whose sexual appetite is rather voracious.
And so to me, it seems that a brief mention of "hairy arms", which, by the way, I like such masculine characteristics, is really just an acknowledgement of part of Pan that I like. Actually, I like hairy legs better, but I'm sure it wouldn't have sounded quite right if I said that I was "protected and safe in your hairy legs". I mean, Pan might have liked it just fine, but the people who read this might not have understood. hee-hee Hopefully with this explanation, it is clear that I am just honoring Pan in a way that is special to me, and that no disrespect was ever intended.
